Lorraine Ward
Director
Lorraine Ward (MA) has held various roles in the Conservation and Urban Design industry. This includes 10 years as a Senior Conservation & Design Officer at Liverpool City Council followed by over 2 years with St Helens Council. These roles involved dealing with a broad range of major projects involving listed buildings, area master planning, conservation areas and World Heritage Site. She was also involved in a number successful of heritage lottery bids and enabling development for listed buildings.
On leaving St Helens, she worked in a consultancy capacity for Rotherham Council as well as a number of private clients. In 2019, following 3 years of working as a private consultant, Lorraine founded Liath Heritage with the intention of growing a bespoke heritage conservation practice based in Liverpool but working across the North West and beyond. Since 2019 she has also worked as an external consultant for Wakefield Council.
Her qualifications include a degree in Architectural and Building Conservation, a Masters’ degree in Heritage Management and she is a full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
Charlotte Hetherington
Principal Heritage Consultant
Charlotte Hetherington (MA) held various roles in the Conservation and Planning industry before joining Liath Heritage in 2022. Charlotte's role at Liath Heritage includes researching and writing Heritage Statements and undertaking Building Recordings.
Her previous experience included working as a Planning Officer for Leicester City Council specialising in applications affecting listed buildings and conservation areas. This was followed by 2 years working as Project Manager for Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zone programmes in both Leicester and Newark-on-Trent. These roles involved dealing with a broad range of projects, including listed buildings, at risk conservation areas and the regeneration of historic high streets.
Her qualifications include a BA degree in History and a Masters’ degree in Building Conservation. She is currently working to become Institute of Historic Building Conservation accredited.
Lily Hughes
Assistant Heritage Consultant
Lily Hughes (BA) recently graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BA in History and Sociology and is currently undertaking a Masters' degree in Building Conservation and Adaptation at UCLAN. She has previously worked as a research assistant at the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
Lily's role at Liath Heritage involves historic research and assisting with building recordings.
