St George's Church
This proposal related to the change of use of the Grade II* listed former church to residential use. St George’s Church is located in the Thornton Hough Conservation Area. As part of the scheme, some subdivision of the space, and changes to the external landscaping, were required to facilitate the associated needs of a residential use.
Following pre-application engagement with Historic England and Wirral Council, we provided clear and convincing justification for the proposals. Viability information established the conversion of the church to residential use as the most sustainable long term viable use.
We compiled a heritage statement, outlining how the proposed works allowed the vacant building to be used in a viable way and enhanced the character, appearance, and significance of the conservation area.
We also completed a Level 3 Building Recording consisting of general external and internal views and detailed special features.
